The Outside of Our House

This is the front. The front door does not show but it is maroon. The pillars and front porch need to be completed.
This is the back of the house facing the bluff.

Harry Purtill Casey

Uncle Harry was born in New York in 1886 and died July 7, 1951. He is buried in St Raymond's Cemetery in New York (St. Raymond Cemetery, Grave 2, Section3, Range 12, Plot 30). He is listed in the 1930 census as a drill press operator. He was married to a lovely lady named Viola. Unfortunately she had systemic TB and became pregnant. She died and the baby along with her. (Suzi Kier Merrihew added the following: "Viola was probably in Saranac Lake, N.Y for T.B Tx. This is near me and a lot of people were treated there."

Uncle Harry served in WWI and I still remember him as a very small man. I don't know how tall he was but I am guessing 5'6" or 5'8". I remember he smoked cigars. He never married again. This picture was taken when he arrived home after WWI. They paraded up from the Embarkation Port to 168th St. Armory of Engineers. The family did not know where he was or if he was alive. They spotted him in the parade, taking this picture.Uncle Harry is third from the right side looking straight at the camera. You can see his leather pack fully.
