Getting Ready for Retirement

Today Harland and I went to the financial services to arrange for the rollover of my State 401k. 401ks are great unless you take out a big chunk which will raise our tax income and put us in a 35% tax bracket. We are going to use a financial services company called First Command. A friend put me in touch with them. They started about 50 years ago providing services for military officers and now do civil service workers.  I have been very pleased so far. But plan on keeping them on a short leash for the time they have my money. I think that Harland was pleased too. We are going to use the 401k  to build the house.

By the way if anyone is interested we have a very nice home planned. It is really cool. I am not sure what style you would call it but it is definitely not the ugly ranch that I was afraid that I would get. It is just great. I am so very excited. The house is being built by Sundberg Homes of Wasilla. He has tried very hard to design a home that has everything that I want in it.The house will be smaller than I wanted 1470 livable space with a 23 x 24 two car garage. It will have 3 bedrooms and two full baths. I even got a walk in closet. We will have a picture window in the living room with sliding glass doors in the dining room and master bathroom, all facing the bluff and the ocean.

Finally I Will Write Something and Alaskan Break Up

It is just plan dirty out there. It is warming up a bit. I am working on a baby quilt for a friend of Jerry's in South Dakota where he attended college. I get so frustrated because I want it all to line up and usually I have the misfortune of having some misaligned parts. This one is kitties and it will be cute no matter what. I am having mixed feelings about my retirement June 1. It is plain scary.I am going to attempt some new and different adventures.
